British government considers adopting new restrictions before Christmas

British government does not exclude the possibility of imposing further restrictions in England before Christmas to stop the spread of covid-19. British Health Minister Sajid Javid said today that new measures could be adopted in the face of the pandemic's spread.

"We are assessing the situation, which is very volatile. We have seen that there is a lot we don't know yet about this Omicron variant," Sajid Javid told the BBC.

According to the British government, there is a need to be more cautious as the reality shows a lot of uncertainty. On Saturday, according to the latest official figures, the UK registered 90,418 new cases, almost double the number a week ago

"We know that this is spreading rapidly. We know now that in London it's 80% of the contagions (and) in England it's about 60%," the ruler said.

Recently, the British government made it mandatory to wear a face mask on public transport and in enclosed spaces, and to present a covid certificate, which proves that a person has been vaccinated or tested negative, to enter large events.

However, scientists believe that the Government should go further and set more restrictions in England, as other British regions have done, calling for limiting social contacts to members of three different families or closing discos from the end of December.
