The UK government is appealing to British citizens not to travel to Cabo Delgado due to the terrorist threat.
This appeal comes a week after the The French Embassy in Mozambique has also advised its citizens not to travel to the cities of Mocímboa da Praia, Pemba and Palma, in Cabo Delgado..
According to a note on the portal Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO)which the MZNews had access to, the British authorities advise against all travel to the districts of Mueda, Nangade, Palma - except the city, for essential trips - Mocímboa da Praia, Muidumbe, Meluco, Macomia, Quissanga and Ibo.
Meanwhile, the British government's alert also includes some districts in Nampula province that border Cabo Delgado.
"The FCDO advises against all but essential travel to the districts of Memba and Eráti, in Nampula province, due to attacks by groups linked to Islamic extremism," reads the portal.
