Employees of the Quelimane City Council, assigned to the Municipal Sanitation Company (EMUSA), stormed the council's session room this Monday (01) to demand five months' salary arrears.
Quoted by Diário da ZambéziaCelestino Francisco, speaking on behalf of his colleagues, said that they had decided to storm the meeting because they had been waiting for their salaries since November last year, but had received no satisfactory answers at a time when they were in need.
On the other hand, the source denounced the alleged threats they have suffered from the Quelimane Municipal Council, but said that they will not give in, not least because they are also threatening to paralyze their activities if their salaries are not paid.
Meanwhile, the municipality, through the director of the Mayor's Office, James Ndjidji, admits the delay in salaries, but blames the Zambezia Provincial Economic and Finance Service, which has allegedly not yet channeled the municipal compensation funds.
However, last week, during the business forum in Mocuba, the Director of the Provincial Economic and Financial Service, Lucas Jackson, also acknowledged the delay in salaries, citing the inconsistency of the famous Single Salary Table (TSU).
