The Frelimo party raised around seven million meticais with the auction of items such as a shirt and T-shirt signed by the candidate for next October's presidential elections.
In addition to the two pieces of clothing valued at 1.5 million meticais, to reach that value a painting was auctioned for 200,000 meticais, a cake, a watch and goods and products were collected.
According to Rádio Moçambique, the fundraising auction to finance the campaign took place in the city of Quelimane, Zambezia province. The event was called Baile [-] Chapo Chapo.
"This is a mature party," said Cristina Mafumo, a member of Frelimo, quoted by the broadcaster. "We are in the process of preparing for the victory of the Frelimo party."
