French Cartier launches one of the rarest Tank watch collections

French brand Cartier has announced the return of Chinoise in connection with Cartier's Privé program, which resurrects new models annually. We have seen the Cloche, Asymétrique and bell-shaped Tonneau return to boutiques recently. Now, the Chinoise is the new sensation announced to celebrate the 100th anniversary of this model.

Cartier didn't just bring back the same Chinoise design and ended up adding new elements. The highlight of the two new versions comes with a skeletonized dial to show the movement underneath.

According to Must newspaper, the pattern of the watch is meant to mimic the design of traditional Chinese windows. It is all the talent of modern watchmaking within a classic, century-old design.

Last year, the Tank came in a multitude of colors, but this year Cartier has perfected one shade in particular: black. There is a new Louis Cartier Tank and three of the more affordable Tank Musts with striking black dials. But the biggest novelty is the Louis Cartier Tank with a shimmering red dial, the color of raspberry.

In addition to the re-launch of the Tank, Cartier this year bet on a wide range of new watches, the Masse Mystérieuse, truly mysterious, given that Cartier made half of it disappear. Another novelty is the Pushin' Pasha watch from the brand's sports collection. Last but not least, this year we will be able to find the famous Santos-Dumont watches plated in lacquer.
