The Russian attack on Ukrainian territory has led Ukraine's President to activate martial law, which prohibits men between the ages of 18 and 60 from leaving the country in times of conflict.
On Saturday, a movie theater in Lviv hosted a class on how to use an AK-47 (Kalashnikov) rifle, produced in the former Soviet Union. Several civilians attended the session, where they were reportedly given details on how to use the weapon in self-defense.
Everyone is called and challenged to join the Ukrainian army. On social media there have even been directions given on how civilians, without any military training, can defend themselves.
Last week it was reported that some 60,000 Ukrainians have decided to return to their home country to join the defense forces.
Last Sunday, the Ukrainian president even called on citizens of foreign countries friendly to Ukraine to come to the country to join the fight against Russian aggression.
Recall that after the start of the war, more than a million people have fled the country, many of them crossing the border through the city of Lviv into Poland.
