The champagne market aims to sell 305 million bottles by the end of 2021, according to the International Organization of Champagne Growers.
The last time the region recorded similar results was in 2017, with 307 million bottles sold.
"I think consumers are ready to celebrate even the little things in life," said Natalie Pavlatos, spokesperson for the Champagne Bureau in the US quoted by Executive Digest.
"So we may be seeing not only a return to normalcy, but also an even better performance than 2019," Pavlatos said.
In 2019, champagne houses shipped 297.6 million bottles globally, with the lion's share destined for the United States and valued at more than $753 million.
In 2020, the region was down 18% from the previous year, raking in $4.8 billion and exporting 244 million bottles, according to data compiled by the Comité Champagne, a trade association representing Champagne producers and houses.
Turnover for the sector, which remains France's second largest export industry after aeronautics, totaled a loss of approximately $980 million.
