The government will spare no effort to achieve the goal of electrifying all administrative posts in the country by 2024, one of the priority objectives of the Executive in this five-year period.
The commitment was reiterated Saturday by the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, in the administrative post of Namaponda, Angoche district, in the province of Nampula, after the inauguration of the local electricity grid.
The Head of State stressed that with concrete actions, such as the electrification of Namaponda, investments are promoted that enhance fishing, tourism, agriculture and livestock and mineral resources, among other activities, in a logic of increasing value with direct impact on trade and industrialization and the consequent creation of jobs for young people and income generation for families.
Nyusi stressed that with electricity in Namaponda, the barriers to private initiatives in the agro-processing industry have been removed, and there is great expectation that the administrative post will register more investments for industrial, commercial, and tourism development. On the other hand, he said, the energy should catalyze the sanitation of the environment, hygiene, and organization of the administrative post.
"Therefore, it is necessary that local authorities focus on the massification of the use of this energy. It is also necessary for community leaders to combat the vandalizing of electrical equipment in order to guarantee its longevity, for the benefit of the community," he appealed.
