Filipe Nyusi begins four-day visit to Algeria today

The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, is on a working visit to the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria from today until March 2nd, at the invitation of his counterpart, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

A note from the Presidency indicates that during the visit, the Mozambican head of state will hold talks with his Algerian counterpart, in the context of strengthening the historic relations of friendship and cooperation between the two peoples and countries, as well as visiting places of economic, historical and cultural interest.

In Algeria, the President of the Republic will also take part in the 7th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (FPEG/GECF) on March 2, 2024, which will be held under the slogan "Making Natural Gas the Central Resource for Inclusive and Sustainable Development".

The summit will focus on issues that encourage countries and governments to embrace new trends and dynamics in the sector to enable a sustainable global environment for the gas sector in the future, as well as strengthening the role of gas exporting countries in preserving their interests, both national and organizational.

On this trip, the Mozambican statesman will be accompanied by the first lady, Isaura Nyusi, the ministers of Mineral Resources and Energy, Carlos Zacarias; Interior, Pascoal Ronda; the deputy ministers of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Manuel Gonçalves; Agriculture and Rural Development, Olegário Banze; staff from the Presidency of the Republic and other state institutions.
