Filipe Nyusi inaugura abastecimento de água no Guara-Guara

On Thursday, December 7, the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, inaugurated a water supply system at the Guara-Guara administrative post, in the district of Búzi, Sofala province.

The system, with an output of 18 cubic meters per hour, is capable of supplying water to up to 20,000 people.

This is a project, built from scratch, from the components of water collection, treatment, transportation, storage and distribution.

The catchment is made up of six boreholes, with a productivity of 18 cubic meters per hour, an 800-meter pipeline, tanks, management houses, 1,650 meters of extension, seven standpipes and 300 household connections.

Speaking at the event, Filipe Nyusi considered it an important milestone that not only represents a technological advance to better serve the population, but also a profound transformation in the quality of life that the government wants for the people.

"This project responds to this concern to provide socio-economic infrastructures that have a major impact on people's lives," said the statesman, adding that it is important to recognize the vital impact that access to drinking water has on people's health.

In the economic and social spheres, he emphasized, the availability of water close to homes is a blessing that will boost development:

"I want to emphasize how this advance will especially benefit the women and girls of Guara-Guara," he said.

For the President of the Republic, with easier access to water, girls will have more time to dedicate to education, enabling them to contribute even more to the country's development.

"In addition, women will have more time to look after their families and homes, while men will also be able to contribute more time to the well-being of their families.

This way of being social will better strengthen the community and promote peaceful and harmonious coexistence," he said, stressing that with the new development, Sofala province has progressed in terms of population with access to drinking water from 64% in 2020 to 68% coverage in 2023.
