The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, said last Friday, at the launch of the 2021-2022 Agricultural Campaign, in Vanduzi, Manica province, that agricultural production for the 2020-2021 campaign doubled the expected target, by reaching 8.2% against the 4.1% initially forecast.
According to the Head of State, this growth is the result of positive performance in almost all subsectors, with the exception of tobacco, sugarcane and tea crops, which had a negative performance.
"This growth has largely contributed to Mozambique's economic recovery. Overall, positive growth was recorded in almost all crop groups," he said.
Data revealed by the President of the Republic, point out that the production of legumes grew by 8%, with beans registering a growth of 10%. As for oilseeds, the growth was 26%, with sunflower production, which grew by 55%.
"In cereals, a growth of 12% was recorded, which brought total production to 2.2 million tons, driven by the growth in rice production, at 19%, and corn, at 13%," Filipe Nyusi stressed.
