FADM deploy contingent to remove barricades on public roads

FADM destacam contingente para remover barricadas na via pública

Dozens of members of Mozambique's armed and defense forces were deployed on Thursday night to remove barricades on public roads, following the "relaxation" of demonstrations in the city of Maputo.

All over the city, there was evidence of the escalation of the post-election demonstrations, which led to violent protests. The remains of various burnt and thrown objects, including bullet casings fired by the police, littered the city.

The soldiers, wielding cleaning materials, followed several avenues in the city that were impassable throughout the day.

Since October 21, Mozambique has been experiencing political tension over election results that are suspected of being fraudulent.
