Meta sent out an internal statement to workers indicating that it is in the process of identifying and developing "possibly paid features".
Meta is reportedly creating a new division within the company in order to identify and develop "possibly paid features" for some of its platforms: namely Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.
The news was advanced by Meta itself in an internal communiqué sent to employees, which was obtained by the site The Verge and quoted by Notícias ao Minuto. It is known that this division will be led by Pratiti Raychoudhury, who until now was in charge of the investigation department of the Meta.
The idea of charging for some features of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp must surely be related to the intention to generate more revenue. Recall that Meta's ability to generate revenue from ads was undermined by new privacy measures approved by Apple, thus forcing Mark Zuckerberg's technology to look for other solutions.
