Army says Nampula is free of terrorist threat

The commander of the army branch believes that the aim of the terrorists' move towards Nampula province last month was to recruit new elements, assuring that the province is "free of the terrorist threat".

"The movement that the enemy made from Cabo Delgado to Nampula had its primary objective: the recruitment of new elements and not expansion," Tiago Alberto Nampele explained to the media on the sidelines of the Superior Military Council, a two-day meeting in Nacala, Nampula province, according to Lusa.

At issue are the attacks that took place at the beginning of September in some villages and communities in two districts located in the far north of Nampula province, on the natural border line with Cabo Delgado.
