Executive approves minimum wages for eight sectors of activity

On Tuesday, the government announced the new minimum wages for eight sectors of activity, to take effect from April 1, with retroactive effect, and reflecting the results achieved by the Labor Consultative Commission.

In the Agriculture, Livestock, Hunting and Forestry sector, the salary rose from the current 5,800.00 meticais to 6,338.00, an increase of 9,27%, and in Maritime, Industrial and Semi-Industrial Fishing the salary rose from 6,220.75 to 6,531.79, an increase of five percent. In Kapenta fishing, the increase was 3,13%, from 4,791.68 to 4,941.68 meticais.

In the Mineral Extraction Industry: Large Companies, the current minimum wage is 12,020.20 meticais, which has risen to 14,181.08, representing an increase of 18%.

In the Quarries and Sand sub-sector, medium-sized companies, the salary has risen from 7,380.00 meticais to 7,700.00, with a revision of 4.34%. In the Salt Pans, Micro and Small Companies, the salary went from 6,034.00 meticais to 6,335.70, an increase of five percent.

In Manufacturing, the increase was in the order of 8.57%, from 8,747.50 meticais to 9,497.50.

In the Bakery sector, wages rose from 6,300.00 meticais to 6,800.00, an increase of 7,93%, while in the Cashew Subsector they rose from 5,853.21 meticais to 6,278.21, an increase of 7,26%.

In the Production and Distribution of Electricity, Gas and Water, Large Companies, there was an adjustment of 10,98%, to 11,625; the same percentage, in Small Companies, went from 8,500.00 to 9,433.30 meticais.

In Construction, the salary is now set at 8,000.00 meticais, compared to 7,409.08 previously, while in Non-Financial Services it has risen from 8,574.00 meticais to 9,560.00, an increase of 11.5%.

Hotels, Tourism and Similar Services saw an increase of 15.4%, from 7,715.00 meticais to 8,900.00; Private Security, 4,66%, from 7,825.00 to 8,190.00 meticais; and Fuel Retailers, 8,74%, from 8,464.50 to 9,204.50 meticais.

For Financial Services, Banks and Insurance Companies, the government has approved a minimum of 17,881.32, up from 16,061.32 meticais, 10.71%, while in Micro Finance and Micro Insurance Companies, remuneration rises from 14,241.29 to 15,741.29, up 10.53%.
