United States rehabilitates Bilibiza Agricultural Institute destroyed by insurgents in Cabo Delgado

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded the rehabilitation of the Bilibiza Agrarian Institute, the main training center in Cabo Delgado, which had been destroyed by Islamic State insurgents.

A note from the U.S. embassy in Maputo says USAID rehabilitated several buildings for about 300 students to resume classes interrupted following a terrorist attack in January 2020.

"USAID's Tuko Pamoja program, which supports livelihoods in Cabo Delgado, worked with the institute to complete the rehabilitation by July, just in time for the school to reopen its doors to 300 students who will continue their studies," the note reads.

Because of insecurity caused by insurgents in the northern districts of the province, the Bilibiza Agrarian Institute, created in 1982 in Quissanga, moved to Chiúre in the south.
