Islamic State claims three attacks in Cabo Delgado

The self-styled "Islamic State" terrorist group claimed three attacks that took place recently in the districts of Mocímboa da Praia and Macomia, in Cabo Delgado province, in northern Mozambique.

According to the newspaper "Carta de Moçambique", quoting a statement made public by the terrorists themselves, "since the beginning of this month, the terrorists have launched a global offensive called: Kill them wherever you find them"..

According to the newspaper, the terrorist organization said that on Wednesday the village of Chinda, in Mocímboa da Praia, was attacked, resulting in several injuries and the destruction of more than ten houses.

The second attack took place in the village of Anotadora, also in Mocímboa da Praia, where, as well as forcing the villagers to flee, the terrorists burned down more than thirty huts.

The third attack claimed by the Islamic State took place in the village of V Congresso, in the administrative post of Chai, in the district of Macomia. Without giving details, the communiqué states that the terrorists attacked a position of the Mozambican Defense and Security Forces.

Also according to the source we have been quoting, as a result of these attacks, three minibuses were sent to rescue families from Macomia and take them back to the displacement centers in the Ancuabe district.

The attacks have been intensifying at a time when the SADC forces in Mozambique are preparing to demobilize, given that their mandate expires next June.
