On Thursday, December 1st, Ernst & Young (EY) signed a memorandum of understanding with AIESEC - International Association of Students of Economics and Commercial Sciences, at EY's premises in Maputo.
This partnership has as its main objective to develop and implement a set of programs linked to EY Ripples, a corporate responsibility project that, through the skills, knowledge and experience of EY employees, aims to help and positively impact society, so that everyone can have an equitable and sustainable future.
Under this agreement, one of the three programs to be implemented will be the 'Spark', ua project aimed at young people aged 14 to 17. There will be lectures, assessments and talks with professionals from various fields, so that young people feel inspired and motivated for the future.
The high school teenagers will also have the opportunity to visit EY's offices, where they will be able to follow the day-to-day work of the consultancy firm's various departments.
With young university students and recent graduates in economics, management and engineering in mind, this partnership will also launch the 'Accelerate' program, awarded to young people aged between 20 and 25. Entrants will have the opportunity to take part in training sessions in technical skills in their areas of expertise.
For Paulo Reis, Managing Partner of the EY office in Maputo and also leader of the Audit department, it is important that companies and other entities monitor and play an active role in the process of getting young people into the job market.
According to the official, "this partnership with AIESEC will be an opportunity for young people to explore and develop their skills, so that they are better prepared for their first job", stressing that "through this program we are investing in the professional training of young people, helping everyone to have a promising career and for the country to have more qualified professionals".
The third program to be developed will be the 'Climate Ideation Clinics', a project focused on climate change, one of the most discussed topics today.
The main objective is to learn and identify innovative solutions on climate change in EY's sectors.
"We can't ignore the problems associated with climate change". "It's important that we overcome this challenge by creating sustainable solutions and services," said Paulo Reis.
Present in Mozambique since 2000, AIESEC is a global, non-governmental and non-profit organization led by young people. Its aim is to contribute to personal and professional development through leadership programs, internships and global exchange experiences.
EY is socially responsible and aims to build a better world for young people, committing itself to the sustainable development of Mozambique.
