Ernst & Young (EY) took part in the 1st Job Fair at Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM), which took place on Thursday, May 4, at the university's teaching complex.
The main aim of the initiative, which brought together 44 leading companies in the Mozambican market and around 1,500 students from various academic institutions, was to provide interaction between students and the professional environment, and to open doors to the future.
The fair had the cooperation of Michigan State University, which provided technical support, and the partnership of the USAID agency – United States Agency for International Development, who helped with financial resources.
Paulo Reis, Managing Partner of the EY office in Maputo and leader of Ernst & Young's Audit Department, welcomed the students, mentioning the importance of companies being in direct contact with the academic population.
Throughout the event, EY carried out recruitment activities and gave a lecture in which it explained the Consultant's service lines, as well as the testimonies of some of the employees who work there.
"We want to cultivate young people's interest in the areas where we operate, contribute to their growth and show that at EY they can find the job opportunity they are looking for," said Nuno Taibo, Executive Director of EY Mozambique's Consulting area.
"We believe that this fair will raise awareness of Ernst & Young and other companies operating in Mozambique, allowing young people to explore different career paths and discover areas of interest that they may not have considered before," said Betuel Canhanga, Director of the Academic Registry at UEM.
The UEM, with the support of the Púnguè University and the Manica Polytechnic Institute, discussed the best model for a job fair, adjusted to the country's reality.
For over 30 years in Mozambique, EY has aimed to support the professional development of young Mozambicans so that they can put their knowledge and experience into practice in order to contribute to the country's development.
