The general director of Eni Rovuma Basin, Marica Calabrese, on behalf of the Area 4 Partners, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Land and Environment, Emília Fumo, signed a Cooperation Agreement aimed at supporting the institutional capacity building process.
At the same time, the agreement aims to contribute to the improvement and innovation of environmental research services at national level.
Under this agreement, Eni Rovuma Basin and the Ministry of Land and Environment will involve academic and research institutions in promoting training activities in the environmental field, with a view to training trainers in the design and analysis of scientific studies with an impact on sustainable resource management.
These activities will involve the technical staff of the National Agency for Environmental Quality Control - AQUA, generating a positive impact for the country.
The implementation of the agreement includes initiatives to improve the operational capacities of the environmental laboratory's facilities, through the supply and installation of technical equipment, furniture and computer equipment.
"Sharing knowledge with the countries where we operate is one of Eni's characteristics. With this agreement, we hope to help improve the capacity of Mozambican institutions to safeguard the environment and manage their resources," said ERB's general manager, Marica Calabrese.
This initiative will be implemented by Eni Rovuma Basin, on behalf of the Area 4 Partners, namely ExxonMobil, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), Kogas, Galp and Empresa Nacional de Hicrocarbonetos (ENH) and is part of the Coral South project's sustainability plan.
