The Maputo Municipal Public Transport Company (EMTPM) needs at least 300 buses to meet the demand for service in the metropolitan region.
The information was shared yesterday, in the capital of the country, by the president of the Board of Directors (PCA) of the company, Lourenço Albino, at the VI Annual Planning Meeting, held under the theme "United and committed to the sustainability of EMTPM".
Currently, the carrier has 65 vehicles, with the reception, in May, of 40 gas-powered buses. However, the leader believes that they are few, especially at peak hours.
"The service delivery to the residents has improved with the reception of the vehicles. However, from the crowded scenario verified at the terminals and stops, we realize that there are still difficulties in responding to the demand in the Greater Maputo Region," he acknowledged.
Albino believes that the authorities that oversee the Transportation area are mobilizing resources to increase EMPTM's fleet. He pointed out that the company continues to face financial difficulties, because the revenue collected does not correspond to the service rendered. (Notícias)
