The Maputo Municipal Public Transport Company (EMTPM) is considering an upward revision of transport fares next year, with a view to the sustainability of the business, writes "Notícias".  

The intention is set out in the 2024 Activities and Budget Plan and establishes a minimum fare of 21 meticais per journey in the Greater Maputo area, compared to the current 15.

Meanwhile, according to the same newspaper, the proposed revision is to be submitted to the Municipal Assembly for approval.

It should be noted that the readjustment was the subject of debate among EMTPM staff at the 12th annual planning meeting held a few days ago, and it comes at a time when the company collected 138 million meticais from January to August, compared to 104 million in 2022.
