Elon Musk criticizes Bill Gates on climate change

Tesla CEO Elon Musk criticized businessman Bill Gates on Twitter after the Microsoft founder sold Tesla shares on Saturday and linked it to fighting climate change.

The entrepreneur and founder of Microsoft launched criticism of Tesla's CEO during an interview with French Youtuber HugoDécrypte.

"I give a lot more to climate change than Elon or anyone else," Gates noted in the interview. "I give a lot of money, I support companies, you know electric cars are about 16% of emissions, and so we also need to solve the other 84%."

This exchange of comments between the two tech giants comes more than a month after Musk confirmed that he rejected an opportunity to work with Bill Gates on a philanthropy project in April.

At the time, the billionaire duo seemed ready to meet, before Elon asked Gates if he still had a "$500 billion Tesla sold position."

"I'm sorry to say I haven't closed yet," the Microsoft owner replied at the time. The head of Tesla then eventually declined the partnership and said that he could not take the offer seriously considering that Tesla is "the company doing the most to solve climate change."

In the following days, Musk made an inelegant post in which he compared Gates to the "pregnant man" emoji.
