The Secretary of State in Tete province, Eliza Zacarias, defends the installation of rescue units in mining camps throughout the country.

The idea is, among other things, to ensure a reduction in the risk of accidents in the sector and to improve search procedures in the event of accidents.

The official was speaking on Thursday in the city of Tete, at the opening of the 6th National Council of the General Inspectorate for Mineral Resources and Energy (IGREME).

At the event, he called for integrated collaboration between IGREME and those involved in the mining sector to ensure the creation of departments dedicated to accident situations in mining camps.

He also said it was necessary to set up a training center for rescue and salvage in Tete province.

Quoted by NewsIGREME's Inspector General, Grácio Cune, said that the sector has seen improvements over the last three years in terms of safety. For example, companies in the provinces of Nampula, Tete and Manica already have fire departments.
