The PODEMOS delegate in Nampula province claimed on Monday (14) that unknown individuals tried to assassinate him at around 10pm last Sunday at his own home.
In a publication by Carta de Moçambique, Castro Niquina believes that the assassination attempt, involving at least six men, was politically motivated by other parties, due to his position in defense of the results of last Wednesday's vote (09).
Speaking at a press conference in the city of Nampula, the source said that the crime was not committed thanks to the prompt intervention of neighbors, stressing that the cause of PODEMOS and Venâncio Mondlane is that of the Mozambican people and, therefore, "even if he is killed, the defense of the interests of the homeland will continue".
On the other hand, the PODEMOS leader in Nampula province denounced several irregularities in the vote, in particular the rigging of results, such as the alteration of numbers, and even the failure to count the votes in the Angoche district, where Frelimo was allegedly declared the winner.
