Renamo, the second largest opposition party, says that it does not recognize the results of the CRED because the commission itself is "unconstitutional". According to Renamo, the financial reasons given in its report are unclear.
The commission reflecting on the relevance of holding district elections in 2024 has come up with results that do not recommend holding district elections in the country.
"District elections are a constitutional imperative and if there isn't a strong enough argument, all arguments are invalid," said the head of Renamo's caucus, Venâncio Mondlane, at a press conference yesterday.
According to Renamo, the lack of money to hold district elections is hardly justifiable, not least because: "Since 1994, there has been no election in Mozambique, whether general or local, that the state has been able to afford.
