The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) arrested an alleged agent of the Rapid Intervention Unit (UIR) yesterday, still during the voting process, in possession of ballots that had already been filled in at the 01 de Janeiro Community School in the city of Nampula..
According to the observers who were there to check the ballot, the ballot papers that had already been filled in were intended to benefit the ruling party, Frelimo, but the UIR agent did not succeed in his attempts and came close to being lynched, only to be saved by the PRM agents who were at the 01 de Janeiro Community School.
Meanwhile, the alleged agent of that unit of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique was taken away in a minibus by officers of the Protection Police to avoid greater harm, but the PRM Provincial Command in Nampula said it had no information about the agent who escaped the popular fury.
In addition to the alleged agent of the Rapid Intervention Unit, the Republic Police have neutralized two other people accused of electoral offences in Nampula City. They are two Renamo delegates. One was arrested in possession of two voter cards and the other invaded the polling booth claiming that a voter was taking too long to exercise his right to vote.
