Today (20.04.03), registration for the October 11 municipal elections kicks off across the country.
According to official figures, almost 10 million voters are expected to register in the 65 municipal districts and towns across the country.
In total, the Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration (STAE), the body responsible for carrying out electoral operations in the country, set up 4,292 voter registration posts and 3,192 brigades.
The National Electoral Commission is therefore calling on all citizens aged 18 or over to join.
"We cannot allow our young democracy to go backwards or stagnate due to attitudes of indifference, apathy and misinformation," said Carlos Matsinhe, president of the National Electoral Commission (CNE), the electoral supervisory body, yesterday, quoted by Lusa.
It should be noted that the registration process for the municipal elections ends on June 3rd.
