Local elections budgeted at 14 billion meticais

The Municipal Elections will cost just over 14 billion Meticais. The information was provided by the spokesperson for the Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration (STAE) on Saturday during STV's Noite Informativa program.

Lucas Manjaze also explained that the increase in value is due to the implementation of the Single Wage Scale, the rise in the price of materials and the creation of new municipalities.

The source also explained in the program that the province of Manica does not interrupt its activities when it is outside the electoral period and, for this reason, has the largest share of the budget.

It should be noted that the pilot voter registration begins on February 1st. The process, which will take place in Nampula, Manica and Maputo province, will last 20 days and aims to test the equipment that will be used in April.
