The Democratic Movement of Mozambique (MDM) and the Electoral Union, made up of 12 parties, announced their coalition for the local elections on October 11.
With this coalition, the Electoral Union will support the party led by Lutero Simango in 62 municipalities, which are to be run by the MDM, and in the remaining three, it will run independently.
"Only united can we change the nation, which needs an alternation and now is the time for change, we are ready and we are going to reverse, because the country needs a new look," said the leader of the coalition, Hipólito Couto, quoted by DW.
For his part, the president of the Democratic Movement of Mozambique (MDM), Lutero Simango, assures that one of the gains of this coalition is to control fraud.
"That's why our union is a clear demonstration that we are prepared and must be ready to fight fraud," he said.
Simango also says that the union with the 12-party coalition is the maximum expression of Mozambicans' wishes.
"In the neighborhoods where we're going we're appealing that we need to unite, and we're here responding to that popular appeal and we'll always do that. That's the goal, that's the interest and since the last national council the MDM has said that, we want to unite and we're going to unite," he said.
The coalition guarantees that it is ready for the election and says it is open to more support in order to win elections in more municipalities.
It should be noted that the Democratic Movement of Mozambique also has the support of PIMO, the Independent Party of Mozambique, led by Yacube Sibinde, and the Ecologist party Movimento da Terra, led by João Massango.
