"The National Electoral Commission (CNE) is going to supervise, starting this Wednesday," said the body's spokesman, Paulo Cuinica.
The source said that "the Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration (STAE) is already on the ground making preparations" for the repeat election, ordered by the Constitutional Council (CC).
Last week, the CC approved a decree setting December 10 as the date for repeating the local elections in the four municipalities where the process was not validated by the CC.
A communiqué issued after the 41st ordinary session of the Council of Ministers indicates that the body approved the date proposed by the Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration (STAE).
The process involves repeating the election in 18 polling stations in Nacala Porto, in Nampula province; three in Milange and 13 in Gurúè, in Zambézia; and in all 41 polling stations in Marromeu, in Sofala province.
However, Renamo, the largest opposition party, filed an appeal last week asking for the repetition of the election in those municipalities to be suspended.
Current legislation states that when the election of one or more polling stations is declared null and void, "the corresponding electoral acts are repeated until the second Sunday after the Constitutional Council's decision".
