The National Electoral Commission (CNE) announced yesterday that the presentation of candidacies for the October 11 local elections will take place from June 26 to July 14.
"Political parties and coalitions of political parties will present their candidacies to the National Electoral Commission, while civil society organizations will do so to the provincial electoral commissions, in a period that will run from 26 June to 14 July," said Paulo Cuinica, spokesman for the CNE.
The CNE spokesman was speaking on the sidelines of a meeting between the CNE and representatives of the political parties, to explain the registration mechanisms for the ballot.
Registration is the expression of interest in running for election by political parties, coalitions of parties or groups of citizens.
After that, there will be the phase of submitting and checking applications from July 20 to August 14," said Cuinica.
The local elections are scheduled for October 11.
