A total of 34,000 hectares of various crops have been lost in Maputo province due to the drought, associated with the El Niño phenomenon, which is affecting part of the south and center of the country.
The information was provided on Tuesday (19) by the provincial agricultural authorities, during a report presented to the Governor of Maputo province, Manuel Tule.
According to the authorities, quoted by Terra Magazine"In some places, the situation was exacerbated by the heavy rain resulting from Tropical Storm Filipo, which flooded the few crops that had survived the heat, leaving hundreds of families in a situation of uncertainty."
The severe tropical storm affected several families in the country's capital, leaving hundreds of homes flooded, especially in flood-prone neighborhoods.
