Edson Macuácua leads the Technical Commission for Inclusive National Dialogue

Edson Macuácua lidera a Comissão Técnica para Diálogo Nacional Inclusivo

The Secretary of State for Science and Higher Education, Edson Macuácua, chairs the Technical Commission, which has the mission of guiding the Political Commitment for an Inclusive National Dialogue, an instrument that aims to contribute to greater political stability and accelerate economic development in the country.

Through a note from the Presidency of the Republic, the Head of State, Daniel Chapo, approved this Wednesday (07), the Regulations for the Organization and Operation of the Technical Commission created for the materialization of the Political Commitment for an Inclusive National Dialogue. The Mozambican statesman took the decision under the law on the Political Commitment for an Inclusive National Dialogue.

In addition to Macuácua, the Head of State also appointed the other 17 members of the Technical Commission, 18 of whom were nominated by the signatory political parties and three from civil society.

The vice-president of the Technical Commission is Alberto Ferreira, a professor and former member of the Assembly of the Republic (AR), who comes from the Optimist Party for the Development of Mozambique (PODEMOS), the largest opposition party in the country.

The deputy of the second opposition party, Renamo, in parliament, Saimone Macuiana, is the rapporteur; and the deputy of the Democratic Movement of Mozambique (MDM), the third opposition party, Laurinda Cheia, has been appointed deputy rapporteur.

Also nominated were Johane Zonjo, from Frelimo; Fátima Jovo (PODEMOS); Ivone Soares (Renamo); Casimiro da Cruz (MDM); Nunes Paulo Nenele, from the Democratic Revolution Party (RD); Sandra Manjate (RD), Vânia Nhantumbo (PAHUMO); Quivela Íntimo Cornélio (PAHUMO); Alberto Pedro Macie (PARESO); Elias Matsimbe, Partido de Renovação Social (PARESO); Ernesto Cossa, Partido de Reconciliação
Nacional (PARENA); Kelven Quenesse (PARENA); Albino Paulo Manguene, of the New Democracy Party (ND); and Berta Muiambo (ND).

Three individuals nominated by invitation and selected from among citizens proposed by national civil society organizations are also members of the Technical Commission.
