Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) will build a new substation in Awasse, Cabo Delgado, to restore the electricity supply to five districts of the province.

These are the districts of Muidumbe, Mueda, Nangade, Palma and Mocímboa da Praia, which have been without power since late last year after terrorists destroyed the substation.

Gildo Marques, director of EDM in Cabo Delgado, said that, considering the damage caused, the Awasse substation needs new equipment to guarantee energy to the districts that are currently without power.
