Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM), in partnership with the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP) and the World Bank, is mobilizing resources to finance new electricity transmission infrastructure in the southern region, as well as in the country.
For the case of Mozambique, the feasibility of the transmission line linking Malawi, Tanzania, and Zambia is under discussion to ensure that the country's energy resources can be available in the region.
The realization of the initiative will allow the country to realize its goal of being a regional hub in energy production and thereby raise more revenue to finance the economy through the sale of energy.
In fact, there are several power generation initiatives in the pipeline, such as the Mpanda Nkwa hydroelectric plant with a projected production capacity of 1,500 MW and the Temane power plant, with a capacity of 450 MW, among others.
The data was revealed yesterday, in Maputo, by Pedro Nguelume, EDM's Administrator for Development and Business.
