On the occasion of the centenary of the birth of the greatest poet of Mozambican literature, and after an initial presentation in the city of Beira, Editorial Fundza will hold a launch ceremony for the book of essays José Craveirinha: a voz do nosso tempo (José Craveirinha: the voice of our time), organized by essayist and journalist José dos Remédios.
This initiative will take place on December 13 (Tuesday), at 5pm, at the Camões Library - Portuguese Cultural Center in Maputo.
The book celebrating Craveirinha's work brings together essays by 15 Mozambican and Brazilian scholars, namely Francisco Noa, Rita Chaves, Carmen Lucia Tindó Secco, Martins JC Mapera, Lucílio Manjate, Vanessa Riambau Pinheiro, Albino Macuácua, Óscar Fumo, Sávio Roberto Fonseca de Freitas, Léo Cote, Américo Macule, Dionísio Bahule, Zito Macário Júlio, José dos Remédios and Matos Matosse. Each author has written an article on José Craveirinha's writing, demonstrating the aesthetic relevance of his poetry and narrative to the Mozambican, African and global reality.
During the launch session, the essayists present in Maputo will interact with each other and with the readers, sharing their lines of reading and the importance of Craveirinha's texts in the construction of the national imaginary.
The two launch ceremonies for the book of essays José Craveirinha: the voice of our time (in Beira and Maputo) are supported by Camões - Portuguese Cultural Center in Maputo, Cornelder de Moçambique, the travel agency COTUR and the Kulemba Association.
According to the book's introductory text, "the publication of José Craveirinha: the voice of our time is a way of recognizing the poet's ability to think about the future through his context. Because the author knew how to be a poet, to capture the time, the ideological and socio-cultural landscape of Mozambique, flying from there to other places on the planet".
