It's official: Mbappé announces departure from Paris Saint Germain at the end of the season

Kylian Mbappé's departure from Paris Saint Germain has been confirmed. At the end of his contract, the forward announced his departure from the French capital with a video on social media.

Arrived in Paris in 2017 after an explosion at AS Monaco, Kylian's numbers for PSG are phenomenal: 255 goals and 96 assists in 306 games, with 14 trophies won. He missed out on the Champions League.

Mbappé was close to leaving last summer, but ended up extending his contract with the French champions by a season. Real Madrid is the most likely destination for this star, who will be playing for a club outside France for the first time.

The French international, whose contract expires on June 30, announced his decision in a video posted on social media: "I wanted to talk to you. I always said I'd talk to you when the time came and I'd like to announce to everyone that this is my last year at Paris Saint-Germain."

"I'm not renewing and the adventure will be over in a few weeks. I'll play my last game at the Parc des Princes on Sunday," he revealed.

Quoted by the "Mais Futebol" portal, Mbappé said he was experiencing "a lot of emotions" and was humble enough to acknowledge some of the mistakes he had made with the Parisians.

"It's been many years in which I've had the opportunity and honor to be part of the biggest French club and one of the best in the world, which has helped me to have my first experience at a club with a lot of pressure, to grow as a player, to be alongside some of the best in history, to meet a lot of people and also to grow as a man, with all the glory and the mistakes I've made," he said.

As well as thanking his teammates, coaches, sporting directors - including Luís Campos - and the rest of the staff, Mbappé left an extensive acknowledgement for the fans, admitting that he wasn't always able to reciprocate the affection he received with gestures or words.

The French striker also revealed that he is leaving the country. "It's difficult and I never expected it to be so complicated to announce this. Leaving France, Ligue 1, a league I've always known, but I think I needed a new challenge after seven years."
