Walt Disney is developing a "real" version of the animated film "Moana", announced Dwayne Johnson this Monday (03) at the company's annual shareholders' meeting.
The animated version was released in 2016 and grossed almost 683 million dollars at the worldwide box office.
"I am deeply honored and grateful to bring the beautiful story of Moana to the big screen in active action," said Johnson, who voiced the role of the demigod Maui in the original film.
The actor said that the new film was in the early stages of development, but did not announce a release date.
The news has divided opinion among internet users. After all, it seems that Disney is attached to the idea of making all or almost all of its animations live action.
"Moana" is set in ancient Polynesia and tells the story of a teenage girl who embarks on an epic journey to help save her tribe. (Reuters/geekpopnews)
