Two people drowned and five others suffered minor injuries as a result of a shipwreck on Sunday in one of the rivers in the village of Mithuco, in the administrative post of Aúbe, in the Angoche district of Nampula.

The shipwreck occurred when a boat crossing the river experienced engine failure and collided with a log.

The head of inspection at the Maritime Administration in Angoche, Alexandre Selemane, who confirmed the incident, said that the authorities did not know the number of passengers on the boat.

The crew members fled after the incident, which is making it difficult to find out the actual number of passengers. (Jornal Notícias)
