The National Migration Service (SENAMI) said Thursday that about 12,000 out of 20,900 miners and farmers working in neighboring South Africa (RSA) could return to Mozambique during the holiday season.
The National Director of Migratory Work, Emília Munguambe, revealed that of the 17,200 miners contracted in the RSA, 10,000 workers are expected to enter the country, starting this Thursday.
"To prevent the spread of Covid-19, miners will be tested and vaccinated with a single dose at the borders of Ressano Garcia, Maputo province and Pafur, Gaza province," assured Emilia Munguambe.
Emília Munguambe said that of this group 3 217 farmers have not taken the vaccine against Covid-19. However, she assured that about 1,600 workers will be vaccinated at the border level.
