300 million dollars available for agricultural commercialization

More than 300 million dollars are being applied in the current agricultural marketing campaign by medium and large economic operators in the country. In parallel, the Mozambique Cereals Institute (ICM) has available 400 million meticais under a credit line in support of agricultural marketing.

The ICM general director, Mahomed Valá, told the newspaper Notícias, in Milange, a few days ago, that the country expects to commercialize in this season more than 17.2 million diverse agricultural products, with the participation of 280 actors, among small and large economic operators.

He explained that the marketing campaign for corn is currently underway, despite the slight delay due to the late start of the harvest of this cereal in the central and northern regions due to irregular rainfall.

The source said the country is ready to ship to the international market over 40,000 tons of soybeans, which are currently stored in Nacala district. Mahomed Valá also said that recently he visited the district of Molumbo, in Zambézia province, where he learned that more than two thousand tons of that oilseed had already been sold.

"It is important that the youths bet on commercialization, because the conditions for conservation and storage of cereals and oilseeds in a complex of silos and warehouses have been created in the Milange district. MOZGRAIN, the concessionaire of the enterprise, will also train the young people in production techniques, as well as instruct them in issues related to the conservation of the production", he said.
