Four students from the Institute of Distance Education (IED) at the Catholic University of Mozambique (UCM) in Nampula were recently arrested in flagrante delicto by the Provincial Office for Combating Corruption (GPCC).
The four examinees were found in possession of cell phones with content related to the tests in progress, including answers presumably sent by third parties, and there are suspicions of the possible participation of individuals linked to the educational institution itself, writes "Notícias", quoting the GPCC statement.
One of the detainees even tried to bribe one of the institution's investigators with the sum of three hundred meticais to avoid being held criminally responsible.
The source adds that because there is strong evidence of the crime of active corruption, punishable under the Penal Code, the institution has opened criminal proceedings against the individual
