Detido “serial killer” de mulheres em Maputo e Gaza
  • He was shot twice in the lower limbs to keep him immobilized
  • He murdered his victims by asphyxiation in order to seize material goods
  • He feigned death until he "came back to life" when he realized he was going to be taken to the mortuary

On Tuesday (28) in KaTembe, the police of the Republic of Mozambique arrested a 35-year-old man accused of murdering 11 women, including an 11-year-old minor, in the provinces of Gaza (nine) and Maputo (two).

"There are eleven, including the first, Xiquelene, who got me arrested," he told journalists.

In order to neutralize him, the PRM had to shoot him in the lower limbs. He is receiving medical care at the provincial hospital in Xai-xai, Gaza province.

He confessed to the press that he had murdered eleven women by asphyxiation in order to seize material goods. Nine murders took place in Mandlhakazi district, one in Manhiça and another in Xiquelene (Maputo).

"I conquer the women and we date. Then, I don't know what happens, but I go with them somewhere to kill. With others I promise a job and then I kill. I don't kill with a knife, I don't tear, I don't take anything. I just take phones, if there are any," he said.

The confessed accused considered the possibility that he was suffering from mental disorders caused by being in debt to a healer to whom he turned for a "lucky bath".

"I owe a healer 10,000 meticais. I gave half. I don't know if that's what makes me murder people," he said.

In 2011, he murdered his wife on suspicion of treason. He was sentenced to 16 years in prison and detained in Mabalane Penitentiary. He served six in semi-open regime for supposed good behavior.

He said he went to Mandlhakazi after meeting a woman he called by mistake. He lived with her as a couple and they worked together as farmers. He got involved with one of the woman's friends. He killed both of them because he got involved with a third.

At KaTembe, he was living with a pregnant woman.

In the districts of Mandlhakazi, Chongoene and Bilene (Gaza) four people were lynched accused of being the alleged killers of women.

When he was arrested, according to the police, he pretended to be dead, but the confessed accused said he was unconscious.

"I really fainted. Not because I made myself faint. There was a lot of blood coming out. They said that if this one is dead you have to put him in the mortuary. So that's when I started breathing heavily. Then they saw that I was alive," he said.
