19 people arrested for involvement in electoral offenses

A total of 19 people were arrested in 15 days for their involvement in electoral crimes during the election campaign. The information was provided by the General Commander of the Police, Bernardino Rafael.  

Bernardino Rafael also said that since the process began, 26 cases have been registered and there has also been one death.

According to the police commander, a total of 26 cases have been recorded in the first fifteen days.

He said that "14 cases involved damaging electoral material, three serious bodily harm, five simple bodily harm, we also have cases of selling campaign material, and all 26 cases have been referred to the Public Prosecutor's Office. Nineteen Mozambican citizens involved in these cases were arrested".

In addition to one death, the circumstances of which were not detailed by the commanding general, road accidents during the campaign are another concern.

"We also recorded three traffic accidents, including the fall of a passenger who is a member of a party, a collision between cars from the same party, in the same caravan, and a crash followed by a rollover."

Meanwhile, Bernardino Rafael reiterated that the PRM will continue to guarantee public order and tranquillity, without preconditions.
