Desnutrição crónica baixou de 43% para 37%

The rate of chronic malnutrition in five-year-olds has fallen from 43% to 37% in the last ten years in Mozambique, the government has announced.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Fisheries, Roberto Albino, said that despite a slight reduction, 37% of children under the age of five are still food insecure.

The levels are still considered very high, according to the 20%, which are the acceptable parameters accepted by the WHO. The challenges are still enormous, for example, the results of the 2024 post-harvest assessment show that

from August to October, around 1.49 million people were food insecure," said Roberto Albino, Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Fisheries.

The new Food and Nutrition Security Policy and Strategy 2024-2030, launched this Friday, aims to combat hunger, malnutrition and food vulnerability throughout the country.
