Commercial establishments were raided and their business objects looted on Thursday afternoon, while demonstrations were taking place in the cities of Maputo and Matola, in Maputo province.
In the city of Maputo we can mention, among several others, the case of a furniture store in the Shoprite shopping center. In the same center, a store selling cell phones and the like was raided. Unknown citizens took everything. Another store selling household appliances was also raided.
The damage caused by the looting has not yet been estimated. Meanwhile, the Police of the Republic of Mozambique managed to recover some goods hidden in the Bullring, near the shopping center.
In the city of Matola, Tsalala neighborhood, near Malhampswene market, a group of alleged protesters broke into a supermarket. Several products were stolen.
The supermarket, on the National Road Number Four (EN4), was closed when the group, made up of dozens of young people, following the Texlom-Tricamo route on the EN4, suddenly diverted their route and robbed the shopping center, according to witnesses.
