CAD delegate threatened with death after refusing Frelimo bribe

Delegado da CAD ameaçado de morte depois de recusar subornos da Frelimo

The delegate of the Democratic Alliance Coalition (CAD) in Tambara, Manica province, was reportedly threatened with death after refusing to accept a pressure proposal to join the ruling Frelimo party in that part of the country.

According to the Electoral Bulletin of the Center for Public Integrity, Frelimo proposed a change of political wing on receipt of one hundred thousand meticais. The whistleblower, who is now a member of the Podemos party, did not meet the expectations of his comrades' party.

The CIP document reports on other irregularities that are taking place during this period of campaigning for the general elections on October 9. It points to the fact that a vehicle from the District Services for Education, Youth and Technology, without license plates, is at the service of the ruling party in Zavala, Inhambane province. And that a member of the Mozambique Republic Police tried to stop Venâncio Mondlane's supporters from marching. On that occasion, the police officer assaulted one of Venâncio Mondlane's security guards. The incident took place last Sunday in Morrumbala, Zambezia.
