Daniel Chapo summons Venâncio Mondlane to the Council of State, but attendance is conditional

The President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, yesterday summoned Venancio Mondlane to take part in the first meeting of the Council of State, next Tuesday (24), at the Presidency of the Republic.

Mondlane is inherently a member of the body because he was the second most voted presidential candidate in the presidential elections of October 9, 2024.

Venâncio Mondlane shared the document on his social media pages, and the agenda includes the approval of the body's agenda; presentation of the members; information on its functioning; information on the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of National Independence; among other things.

However, Mondlane, almost anticipating a response on whether or not he will be part of the body, published an excerpt from an interview in which he explains that the decision is conditional on an assessment of the level of response or achievements to demands such as respect for human rights and a set of agreements with the government for the benefit of the people after the elections.

"Many of them [the agreements] are not being fulfilled," he noted.
