Tesla CEO Elon Musk said Friday that his company's much-spirited Cybertruck would come with a top-of-the-line four-motor model.
"Initial production will be four engine models, with ultra-fast torque response control independent of each wheel," Musk said.
Musk, who calls the vehicle an "insane technology wagon," said the Cybertruck would have both front and rear steering that "not only (turns) like a tank, it can also be driven diagonally, like a crab."
The vehicle would compete with trucks such as GMC's Hummer EV, Ford's F-150 Lightning, and, Rivian's R1T. Of these, the R1T is powered by four individual motors that power all four wheels and GMC's Hummer can be driven diagonally.
The Tesla pick-up truck, first announced in 2019, is made of stainless steel used in rockets, and Musk received hundreds of thousands of orders for the Cybertruck when pre-orders were announced.
Cybertruck production is expected to begin next year and reach volume production in 2023.
